Elle a eu pour but de mettre \u00e0 la disposition des administrateurs du projet de R\u00e9duction des \u00c9missions dues \u00e0 la D\u00e9forestation et \u00e0 la D\u00e9gradation des for\u00eats (REDD+) une contribution<br \/>\nscientifique susceptible de faciliter la prise de d\u00e9cision. Montrer la vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 et la capacit\u00e9 de cet \u00e9cosyst\u00e8me \u00e0 stocker le carbone, permettra de mieux inclure les mangroves dans les strat\u00e9gies REDD+ et de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de ses services. Pour cette \u00e9tude, quarante-cinq (45) arbres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 abattus. Ils ont permis d\u2019\u00e9tablir les \u00e9quations allom\u00e9triques pour l\u2019estimation des stocks de carbone. Les images satellites de LANDSAT ETM de 2002 et de 2015 et les inventaires au sol dans 10 parcelles de 2500 m\u00b2 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9s pour estimer les changements de stocks de carbone de ces mangroves entre 2002 et 2015. Le stock de carbone dans la mangrove vieille qui \u00e9tait de 23 203 813 tonnes (12 714 ha) en 2002 est pass\u00e9 \u00e0 11 244 195 tonnes (6 161 ha) en 2015. Par contre dans la mangrove jeune, le stock de carbone est pass\u00e9 de 248 317 tonnes (7 794 ha) en 2002 \u00e0 451 392 tonnes (14 168 ha) en 2015 ; ceci a conduit \u00e0 une perte d\u2019environ 11 756 543 tonnes \u00e9quivalent \u00e0 522 tC\/ha au cours cette p\u00e9riode.
